Hilla Hueber
"My paintings rarely represent reality, they are fashioned from memory and imagination; multiple meanings are possible, as well as ambiguous emotions. Often using geometric elements when developing content and composition, I feel I have succeeded when my audience engages with a specific piece and finds a connection to their own experience. I cherish the dialogue that ensues.
The series "Between Worlds" of pen over ink washes is coming together as a dialogue about the precarious condition of living between two worlds, Europe and the US. I am often surprised by how much of my creative vocabulary is still influenced by my origin and upbringing and what role my new visual experiences are playing. It is exciting to see the two worlds converging."
